FITTING THE WINDSCREEN

The windscreen is fitted in a rubber beading which is at the same time fitted on the edge of the windscreen vane in the cabin.

A rubber strip pressed along the centre line of the beading ensures sufficient pressure to hold the screen and hold both screen and beading to the cabin body, thus preventing its moving and making it airtight.

The removal and refitting of the windscreen requires a certain amount of attention.

To remove the windscreen, carry out the following operations:

147

Lift and remove the windscreen wiper blade.

148

Remove the strip inserted in the windscreen beading.

For 1st series.
Check carefully to find the meeting point of the ends of the strip.
For 2nd series.
Unscrew from the inside of the cabin, the screw locking the two caps covering the jointing of the beading and strip and remove the caps.

149

Extract by means of a screwdriver the end of the strip from the beading and pull out over its whole length,

150

Push windscreen from the inside of the cabin in correspondence to one of the two top corners and with the help of a screwdriver remove the beading from the cabin edge. Continue until thewindscreen is completely removed.
To refit the windscreen carry out the following operations (see fig. 58) :

151

Fit the larger groove side of the beading to the windscreen glass, starting in the middle of the glass upper edge.
The beading to be so placed that the groove for the locking middle strip be on the outside (see fig. 58 a) of the glass.

152

Continue the fitting of the beading all around the glass (see fig. 58 b).

153

Push into the other groove of the beading, starting from the middle of the lower part, a string (see fig. 58c) leaving the end of this hanging on the outside. Insert the string all around the beading leaving the other end loose near the other,

154

Place the windscreen into the cabin vane and insert the beading on to the vane edge at the point where the two string ends hang (see fig. 58 c).

155

Gradually pull the string away from the inside of the cabin, so that through the elastic deformation of the beading the string will guide the cabin vane edge (see fig. 58c). The groove for the centre strip allows the beading to deform so as to definitely seat itself into the cabin vane.

156

Insert the central strip into its groove helping with a screwdriver wet with soap.
