Lambretta Li 175 Series 2
Italian Production Dates: July 1960 - 1963
Frame Prefix: T41
In July 1960 Innocenti launched the Series 2 Lambretta Li175. The most obvious difference was the new larger/wider cab, with a solid roof rather than a sun-shine roof.
The new three-wheeler now also came with both front and rear indicators, the mudguard was changed again, this time becoming much larger than on the Series 1. The electrics were upgraded to 12V from 6V and the hand start method and lever on the Series 1 gave way to a kickstart on the new Series 2 although we believe there was a cross over period where some Series 1 had a kickstart mechanism.
The Li 175 went through a series of changes over its production, from indicators and bulbs, to front forks and doors. These changes were mostly due to changes in the Codice della Strada in Italy which governed vehicles used on Italian roads. For amendments see here.
The Li 175 was later replaced by the Lambro 175 in September 1963. These two models were the most successful of the Lambretta three-wheelers The vehicles were sold worldwide and had an enormous range of uses. For pictures and examples of their uses, please see our Special Uses page

Electrical Equipment
The 6-pin 80W flywheel alternator feeds the 12V - 18 Ah battery through the rectifier-regulator group
The charging circuit is protected by a fuse (15A) located on the wiring block on the crossbar under the seat. The user circuits are protected by 5 fuses (8A each), arranged below the dashboard.
The direction indicators flasher unit and the electrical wiper switch (accessory) are live only with the ignition switched on (ie key and switch on the dashboard in the positions 1,2,3)
The horn and rear stop lights can be operated without ignition key inserted.
The battery must be always regularly connected, otherwise engine start can be faulty and dangerous overloading of the circuits can occur during running.
The red indicator bulb on the dashboard comes on with the ignition on and stays on with the engine running. Should turn off when the ignition is switched off
